New Audiobook | The Cul-de-Sac: An Appalachian Gothic Murder Mystery
It’s a muggy summer in the forested suburbs outside of Charleston, West Virginia. Johnny Jepko and Patricia Murgatroyd watch enrapt as the crimes of their runaway next-door neighbor come to light before their eyes.
🎙️ The Cul-de-Sac is here! I’m thrilled to announce the release of this gripping Appalachian gothic murder mystery by R.L. Young.
This project has been a deeply personal and meaningful journey for me. I was born in West Virginia, and my family roots run deep there. We moved to Ohio when I was just about two years old, but the place and the people always remained close. We returned often to visit my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Their lovable and quirky personalities shaped my childhood and continue to inspire me.
Narrating The Cul-de-Sac allowed me to reconnect with the essence of Appalachian life—the humor, the secrets, and the resilience of its people. R.L. Young’s masterful storytelling captures all of that, weaving a suspenseful and richly layered tale. One of my favorite aunts–wit, charm, and unmistakable spirit–even became the foundation for one of the book’s most lovable characters, Patricia Murgatroyd.
If you love dark mysteries with a touch of Southern gothic charm, The Cul-de-Sac is a must-listen. It’s a story that lingers, much like the cherished memories of my Appalachian roots and the unforgettable people who shaped them.
