SHIRLINGTON, VA- FEBRUARY 21
Dana Rowe (left) and John Dempsey are involved in the production of Signature Theatre's "Brother Russia," for a Celia Wren story, photographed in Shirlington, Virginia on February 21, 2012.
This is a brand-new musical by the team of John Dempsey (book and lyrics) and Dana Rowe (score). To whet the public appetite for the show, Signature is pre-releasing recordings and music videos of several songs--apparently the theater has never before made a concerted effort to pre-release songs in quite this way.
Rowe and Dempsey team up again several years after their previous effort ("Witches of Eastwick").

Dana has been a delight to work with. He is scrupulous in his attention to detail and fully collaborative in bringing my characters to life. I’m very excited about the book we’ve done together My Favorite Uncle, and the two we’re planning for 2025 Fathers of the Bride and Sentenced to Christmas. ~ Marshall Thornton, Author of My Favorite Uncle

Dana brought my work to life in a way I didn't even know was possible. His intelligence, talent, and professionalism made the whole project a breeze. To have my expectations exceeded on a project so close to my heart was a true gift. ~ R. L. Young, Author of The Cul-de-Sac: An Appalachian Gothic Murder Mystery

Dana P. Rowe understands that a great audiobook is the result of a dialogue between writer and narrator. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. Some narrators will read your story, but Dana will tell your story, and I look forward to working with him again. ~ Stefanie Van Steelandt, Author of Lady of the Army: The Life of Mrs. George S. Patton

Working with Dana has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me as a writer. His narration not only brought the story to life but helped me rediscover it and, ultimately, connect with the characters and the plot at a deeper level. Dana’s warmth, creativity and professionalism made the collaboration smooth, exciting, and genuinely fun. ~ Vlad Glaveanu, Author of The Wish Thief

Dana was a pleasure to work with on The Fury Clock. A narration is very much a collaborative process, and Dana proved himself an excellent partner in that process; he brought truly inspired ideas for character voices and dramatic energy. What’s more, his patience and work ethic made the entire project feel effortless. ~ Christopher Bunn, Author of The Fury Clock: The Infinite Wheel of Endless Chronicles

Dana P. Rowe is a multiple Olivier Award nominee with over three decades of professional experience in audio production, theatre, opera, and music. A long-time Actors' Equity Association member, he has musically directed, performed in, and produced hundreds of musical theatre productions and commercial recording sessions, ranging from audiobooks and jingles to original cast recordings. He has also collaborated on documentary films included on NBC’s Best LGBTQ-inclusive TV Shows and Films list, alongside Pose, Schitt’s Creek, Euphoria, Pain & Glory, and many other notable works.

Born in the moonshine-friendly hills of Appalachia and raised in the jello-mold-loving heart of the Midwest, Dana's childhood memories and the colorful cast of characters he encountered are a constant source of inspiration for his work. Having come of age and come out during the wild dance and party scenes of New York City in the late 70s, Dana experienced the allure, thrill, and heartbreak of that era, including the devastating impact of the AIDS epidemic. As a proud father and co-grandpa with his husband Andrew, he brings warmth, authenticity, and a touch of delightful mischief to his storytelling, with a deep understanding of life's darker sides, devastating loss, and the triumph of recovery.

Dana's literary preferences span a wide spectrum, from biography and memoir to LGBTQ fiction and nonfiction, addiction and recovery narratives, and both adult and young adult comedy and fantasy.

His storytelling is further enriched by his experience as an author and award-winning composer of musicals, along with the diverse accents and dynamic personalities he’s encountered through his international work, language skills from his opera training, and role as an executive coach for leaders from Amazon, Columbia University, Disney, Eastman School of Music, Sony, Forbes, and Lincoln Center Education.
